Headaches

Most people might only regard the common headache as a nuisance, but for those who endure them daily, they can be physically crippling and emotionally destabilizing; these bodily manifestations can become extremely burdensome once compounded by the demands of the everyday. Because headaches are one of the human body’s most frequent ailments, it is not surprising that the most convenient remedies have been bottled. These chemical treatments include ibuprofen, aspirin, and in some cases, more serious painkillers. The major drawback of such pills and medications is that they are reactionary, in that an individual takes them after the pain has become serious enough that drugs are required. Dependency can also manifest itself as a health concern because of the potentially harmful effects of using painkillers routinely. Beyond thi s, the body can be damaged by constant application of foreign elements to the system.

Due to the drawbacks of chemical remedies, other, more natural methods have become popularized in recent years. Perhaps the most relevant and successful remedies for chronic headaches are chiropractic techniques or spinal manipulation. Chiropracticresearch.org has published the excerpts of a Duke University study which recorded incredible successes attributed to chiropractic medicine: “The results showed that chiropractic was highly effective for patients with tension headaches. When compared with the drug amitriptyline, chiropractic and the drug had similar short-term effects during the episode. However, the drug carried with it an adverse reaction rate in 82% of the patients.” Also of importance is the financial focus of the report, which highlighted the “billions of dollars spent annually for lost productivity and treatment.”

Healthy living is contingent on a patient’s proactive approach to understanding his or her own physical problems. Certainly the easiest methods of treatment for many health issues have been packaged and labeled for easy use, but none of these solutions are comparable to the chiropractic approach that includes patient-doctor dialogue and the trained analysis of physical ailments. Only when the origin of pain is identified can wellbeing become the attainable goal of the patient. Otherwise, pain is not addressed as it deserves and comfort becomes the principal concern of the afflicted.

The primary benefit of chiropractic care is that it is both reactionary and preventative. In oftentimes can successfully curb the trend of chronic headaches and prevent future pain. Recent studies have established that proper care and frequent visits to chiropractors can help maintain the body’s equilibrium and preserve both the brain and spine’s integrity. The delicate balance of the body, which can be offset by age, gravity and physical exertion, is not a medicinal mystery and the answer is not necessarily surgical or pharmaceutical. Instead, one of the most non-invasive and cost-effective remedies for chronic headaches is the application of chiropractic methods.
