The sit-up- oh we all have done many of these over the years. However, spinal loading studies have shown that they may do more harm than good. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure your gym teacher in grade school was well intentioned when we were tested to see how many we could do in a minute. But the pressure on the spine and discs are not worth it. There are plenty of other core strengthening exercises that are far better for you than the old-fashioned sit-up. Some of those are: curl ups, squats, planks, bridges and lunges to name a few. I am not advocating no exercise, just better exercises for you!
