Backpack safety- Back to school tips

Kids are back to school now, and it is that time again to talk about backpack safety. Kids get back pain too if they don’t take good care of themselves. The biggest issue that I run into is the overall weight of the books that kids bring home. The old recommended weight % is 15% of your child’s weight, however newer studies are recommending that kids carry only 10% of their bodyweight in their backpack. The other main concern I see is that kids only use one strap, or they let the bag hang very low. So make sure that your child is using both straps and is keeping their pack snug to their body. Pick your battles with your kids- just make sure that they don’t do the major faults. Hope this helps!
