I am happy that your son is being helped. I am not aware of any “programs” that can help for payment for treatment. However, chiropractic care is usually affordably priced because insurance often does not cover it. Mention this concern to your chiropractor and he or she may be able to work with you. My son is 14 mo. old. with a mild case of CP, we have had 5 chiropractic adjustments and it has seemed to decrease the amount of tone in his affected limbs and help extend his range of motion, we are very happy with how he’s been doing since, however now our insurance will not cover any more visits and we can’t afford to keep up with the treatments. Do you know anywhere that helps financially with this sort of treatment?

A Chiropractors’ work is to add pressure to various parts of the neck and stretches the neck to help cure neck pain. In Ultrasound, a gentle heat from the sound waves goes deep to the tissues. This procedure enhances the circulation of blood and hence results in stiffness, reduction of the muscle pain and bulging. In Inferential Electrical Stimulation, a low frequency electrical current goes through the affected area which then induces the muscles and reduces acute and continuous pain. The mobility is increased by the heat that is yielded in the electrical current. The tightness and pain are alleviated. The natural pain killers in the body are produced more with the help of electrical current sent to the affected places. In order to improve the health, chiropractors encourage prevention. Like it would be really good if by learning how to keep a good posture and mechanics, a person can avoid having neck pain. A chiropractor looks at the person and his lifestyle and not just the pain.

Thank you for your inquiry. Please do realize that the blog post on this subject was just some anecdotal evidence on a very small (only 4) number of patients. Also, as noted in the study, chiropractors do not treat CP. Chiropractors detect and treat vertebral subluxations, and if that helps improve function with kids with CP, then that is an added gain. I am not aware of any studies that show percentages of kids helped.
